How Stowe works

Three steps, one kitchen.

The same calm loop every day — the food you already own becomes tonight's dinner.

At home
Scan what you have.

One photo of the fridge or pantry. Stowe logs what's there and flags what's about to expire — no typing, no barcodes.

Tonight
Cook what needs using.

Dinner ideas built around what's about to go off. Cooked? Snap the plate and your inventory updates itself.

At the shop
Share the list when you're out.

One shared list across every phone. Someone flags the milk from home and it lands on the shopper's screen — no double-buys.

A look inside

See it in your kitchen.

Designed mobile-first. Installed like a real app. Quietly running while you live your life.

Plate-after scan

Snap the cooked dish. Inventory updates. Run-outs land on the list. The loop closes.

Wait, isn't this just…

Not another grocery app.

The apps you've tried stop at the shopping list. Stowe runs the whole loop — from shelf to plate.

Unlike
AnyList
— which stops at the shopping list
Stowe
tracks what you cooked and what's expiring too — so it actually gets eaten.
Unlike
Cozi
— which is a family calendar with meals bolted on
Stowe
is built around the fridge: what you have, what's expiring, what's for dinner.
Unlike
Mealime
— which gives you recipes to shop for
Stowe
gives you dinner from what's already on your shelves.
Unlike
Pantry trackers
— which want every can logged by hand
Stowe
sees your fridge in one photo, your dinner in one snap.
Setup

Set up in three steps

01
Create a household

One invite code. Add your partner, family, or flatmates — everyone syncs in real time.

02
Scan your fridge

One photo. Stowe logs what's there, flags what's expiring, and suggests tonight's dinner.

03
Cook in sync

Lists, meals, expiry alerts, and plate-after scans — shared across the whole household.

Under the hood
Household Orchestrator

Behind the calm screen, Stowe keeps the moving parts in step — shopping, inventory, recipes, expiry, taste, and reminders. It works out what matters and skips the rest.

It stays quiet unless there's something genuinely worth your attention.

Everything in one place

One app instead of a list app, a meal planner, a pantry tracker, and a recipe library.

FAQ

Questions you'd ask a flatmate.

Is Stowe free?
Yes — free while we figure out which features matter most. If a paid tier appears later, the core (scan, list, plate-after) stays free.
Does everyone in my household need to install it?
Yes — everyone you want syncing with you (partner, family member, flatmate) installs Stowe and joins via your 6-character invite code. That's how the list syncs and how urgent adds get pushed mid-store. There's no member limit; couples, families of five, and shared houses all work.
What does Stowe do with my fridge photos?
Photos go to Anthropic's Claude for ingredient recognition, then sit in a private bucket scoped to your household. They aren't shared, sold, or used to train anything, and nobody outside your invited members can see them.
Where is my data stored?
On Supabase (Postgres + private file storage). Each household is row-level isolated — no one outside the people you invited can see your list, inventory, scans, or photos.
Does it work without internet?
Mostly. The shared list and inventory are cached locally so you can still read them offline. Scans, meal suggestions, and live shopping mode need a connection to do their thing.
What devices does Stowe work on?
Any modern browser — iPhone (Safari), Android (Chrome), or desktop. Tap the Install button on this page to add it to your home screen and it runs like a native app, with push notifications.
How is Stowe different from AnyList or Cozi?
Those apps stop at the shopping list. Stowe also tracks what you cooked and what's about to expire — so the groceries you actually bought get eaten instead of binned. See the comparison above for the per-app breakdown.

Get your kitchen on the same page.

Shop less. Cook more. Bin nothing.

Install Stowe free and bring everyone who shares your fridge. It runs like a real app — full-screen, with notifications only when they matter.

Free while we're testing. No ads, no trackers.
