Welcome to Stowe. These terms explain the deal between you and us when you use our app at stoweapp.app. We’ve kept them short and plain — please read them.

1. Who we are

Stowe is operated by an independent developer. You can reach us anytime at hello@stoweapp.app. By using the app you agree to these terms.

2. Your account

You need to be at least 13 (or the minimum age in your country) to use Stowe. Keep your password safe — you’re responsible for everything that happens on your account. Tell us right away if you suspect someone else is using it.

3. What you can and can't do

You can use Stowe for personal household planning — shopping, cooking, sharing with the people you live with.

You agree not to:

  • Use it to break the law or hurt anyone
  • Reverse-engineer, scrape, or abuse the app or our APIs
  • Resell, sublicense, or commercialise it without our written consent
  • Upload content that’s illegal, harmful, or violates someone else’s rights
  • Try to game the AI features (e.g., to extract our prompts or run unrelated tasks)

4. Stowe Premium — payments, billing & trial

Stowe is free to use for the core features. Stowe Premium is a paid subscription that unlocks the cook-along voice, receipt scanning, nearest-store finder, plate-scan macros, and a higher daily AI allowance.

7-day free trial. New Premium subscribers get 7 days free. We collect a payment method up-front but don’t charge until day 8. Cancel anytime during the trial and you pay nothing.

Auto-renewal. After the trial, your subscription renews automatically (monthly or yearly, depending on the plan you picked) until you cancel. Prices shown on /premium apply.

How to cancel. Settings → Manage subscription. Or email us. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you keep Premium until then.

Refunds. Because of our 7-day trial, we don’t routinely refund partial periods. If you’re charged unexpectedly or hit a technical issue, email hello@stoweapp.app and we’ll make it right. Where required by law (e.g. EU/UK 14-day right of withdrawal), we honour that fully.

5. Your content

Anything you put into Stowe — shopping items, recipes, photos, household members, food logs — belongs to you. We store it so the app works, share it only with members of your household within the app, and never sell it. See our Privacy Policy for the full picture.

6. AI features

Stowe uses AI (large language models from Anthropic and others) to power features like the cookbook generator, voice add, receipt scan, and plate macros. AI output is generated, not curated — it can be wrong, biased, or weird. Don’t rely on it for medical, dietary, allergen, or other safety-critical decisions. Always double-check ingredients if you have allergies.

7. Service availability

We try to keep Stowe running 24/7 but we can’t guarantee perfect uptime. Sometimes we update, fix, or pause things. We may also remove features or change pricing — we’ll give reasonable notice before any change that affects what you’re paying for.

8. Termination

You can delete your account anytime from Settings (this also cancels Premium). We can suspend or close accounts that violate these terms. If we do, you keep your data export rights for 30 days.

9. The boring legal bits

No warranty. Stowe is provided “as is”. We make no promises beyond what these terms say.

Liability cap. Our total liability to you in any 12-month period is capped at what you paid us in that period (or NZ$100 if you’re a free user).

Indemnity. If your misuse of Stowe causes us to be sued, you agree to cover the costs.

Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Where you have consumer protection rights under your own country’s laws (e.g. EU, UK, Australia, California), those apply on top of these terms, not instead of them.

10. Changes

We may update these terms occasionally. If we make material changes, we’ll email you and post a notice in the app at least 14 days before they take effect. Continuing to use Stowe after that means you accept the new terms.
